Explore our timeline below where we take a look at the highlight from our history.

Building the foundation

Founded in 1860 by the merchant Frederik Plum, Plum started as a family-owned company rooted in the community of Assens on Fyn, Denmark. Over the decades, Plum grew from its local origins into a trusted name in hygiene and workplace safety.

In 1965, Plum took a new step into industrial hygiene by producing its firsthand wash products, including the well-known hand cleansing agent Swarfega.

Between 1972 and 1980, Plum underwent a significant reorganization, strengthening its focus toward technical products and chemicals.

A focus on skin and hand care

In 1980, Plum Kemi Produktion A/S was established. In the same year, the company changed its name to Plum Hudsikkerhed, and shortly thereafter to Plum A/S, reflecting a clear and growing commitment to skin safety and professional hygiene solutions. From 1977 and throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Plum developed and launched proprietary hand wash and hygiene products, particularly tailored to the needs of the healthcare sector.

Safety takes center stage

From 1997, safety moved to the forefront with the introduction of eyewash and first-aid products, expanding the company’s focus from hygiene to workplace safety.

Growth continued in 2004 when moving to a new headquarters, followed by expanded production and the launch of electronic dispensers in 2010. In 2013, the introduction of QuickSafe® stations further strengthened the company’s position within integrated safety solutions.

Growth & integration

In 2015, the company was acquired by CCS Healthcare AB, and in 2019 became part of KiiltoClean A/S, strengthening its position within a Nordic hygiene and safety platform. During this period, the first-aid portfolio was expanded with products such as burn gel and plasters, reinforcing the company’s role as a comprehensive workplace safety provider.

A new beginning: Plum Safety ApS

In 2020, Lifco AB acquired the Workplace Safety Division, and later that year Plum Safety ApS was established as an independent safety company. In 2021, the Pull1Aid® wound care station was launched, making first aid faster and more accessible.

Today, Plum Safety ApS continues to develop user-focused solutions that help create safer workplaces across Europe and several countries throughout the world.
